| | | Canine behavioral issues cause more dogs to be euthanized than terminal illness. This can be avoided w/ obedience training. |

This web site simply is not big enough to keep a running write up on all the dogs that we work with however, we will showcase your dog for as long as possible upon completion of any one of our training programs. That way you can show the whole world what you and your best friend has accomplished.

Harley Boy
This is Harley Boy. You'll see a lot of pic's of Harley Boy as he is our own Black Labrador retriever and my training assistant. Harley helps extensively w/ socialization training on other dog and people. You might have even seen Harley around town. He's the black dog in a white trailer being pulled by a white motorcycle you might have heard about. Harley has become proficient in all three levels of obedience as well as having passed the obedience curriculum requirements of other trainers here in Central Missouri as well as trainers in the Kansas City, Missouri area. He's earned his Canine Good Citizen award from the AKC and has an Indefinite Listing Privilege with the AKC and is our Doggie Cop so to speak for Puppy Night. He helps to maintain order among the young dogs during play period.
Update::: Harley Boy is the initial charter member of Pettis County K9 Academy Dog Club

Cletus
Cletus is the newest addition to our family. Cletus came to us from a former client that had to suspend Cletus's hearing alert training and re-home him. In the time I had to work w/ Cletus, I came to realize that he had come from the same breeder and even the same mate pair as our Harley Boy making them brothers from different litters. Knowing this and knowing what a wonderful dog he was, I couldn't bear loosing track of him. Although Cletus has now been through the training levels, he still has quite a bit to learn. He and Harley make a great team and if you keep your eye's open, you see us all running around town on the bike.
Update::: Cletus is the second charter member of Pettis County K9 Academy Dog Club

Morgan
Daphne is a very another regal Std. Poodle belonging to one of Sedalia foremost groomers who has also turned out to be quite an exceptional dog handler as well. Morgan started out compliant enough but as training progressed, so did her stubborn temperament. Morgan is one of those dogs that needed to see the other side of coin, such as consequences because positive only methods were lacking in discipline but leash and collar corrections were being perceived as a threat. We had to get creative bu once we found the solution, Morgan turned around in the time frame of one session. Going through Basic Obedience and facing the many challenges that comes from training in a group environment as well as leaning the agility equipment and command response has really changed Morgan's views of the world for the better. Now her majestic and stoic poses and her aloof behaviors is based on confidence and understanding as opposed to being based on fear and not knowing what else to do. She'll be taking her AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation soon and expect to see her walk right through it without a care in the world. Keep up the great work you guys.

Rocco
Rocco is a handsome, poised Bichon that began class terrified of everything. The trust and confidence he gain as a result of the Basic Obedience training and the relationship skills and leadership skills both Rocco and his human companion learned quickly transformed them into an unstoppable team. It truly is a pleasure the watch these two on a walk or practicing there commands as well as tackling the agility equipment. They'll soon be taking the AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation and I expect them to waltz right through it without a hitch. Keep up the good work you two.
Cash
Cash, a terrific looking and tempered Black Labrador puppy that really had no issues at all other than being a puppy and belonging to responsible owners that wanted to avoid all the issues of an un-trained dog. Without bragging, I knew that little Cash would do well and he has. He gets tired quickly but otherwise is a pleasure to handle and watch. The best part it that he'll continue to get better and better all the time. I' eager to watch him walk through his upcoming AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation. Keep up the great work, you all are doing great.
Nali
Nali was quite an energetic handful as well as very barky when her and her human companion came to visit for the first time. By the end of her second visit, we'd managed to redirect some behaviors, correct some other behaviors while all the while giving Nali something positive to think about. Her and her handler walked away at the end of the second session calm, collected and smiling. And that was just the beginning. I only wish you could all see her now. Keep up the terrific work you two. Get out there and show off Nali's skills and behaviors.

Makeeta
Makeeta is the typical canine youngster that need direction in order to understand and be understood. The young one that go through our Puppy Nite socialization and on to Basic Obedience learn so quickly and easily. Makeeta has went from a bouncy, energetic puppy to a responsive and well manner young dog. He enjoys most of the agility equipment and especially enjoys the interaction with the other dogs and people. I look for Makeeta to sail through the upcoming CGC evaluation without even blinking. The whole family has done so well. Keep up the good work everyone.

Ace
Ace is a very energetic fellow that not only got to attend Pup Nite socialization and Basic Obedience, he also to become reacquainted w/ this brother Ruger as shown elsewhere. Although they were in two different Basic Obedience classes, they got to share some time playing at Pup Nite quite often. Ace like Ruger is very energetic and somewhat unfocussed. Although he and all the dogs that come and go though here, need continuing practise at home, has made remarkable improvement and changes. Ace's human companions should be proud of not only Ace's accomplishments but, also they're own. Keep it
up guys. We'll see you soon, I hope.

Ruger

Ruger is a rambunctious and fiesty fellow that has really came a long way since our first introduction. He's still got a little polishing to do which we are working on now but he readily picked up his five basic commands and his bad behavior began to decrease markedly. He's great but, sometimes I think he just likes to argue with who ever is on the other end of the leash. Keep up the good work Ruger, we'll see you again soon.

Dungey
Dungey had a mind of his own to say the least. Sweet and gentle but defiantly persistent once he'd made up his mind to go somewhere or do something. This was primarily a result of being allowed to act this way and do these things. Training meant new rules and once Dungey began to understand things really began to change for him and his family. Obedience training arms you and your dog w/ verbal ques and body language that become your way of communicating with one another. Communications creates understanding and understanding allows for compliance. We should never cheat our dog out of being better able to understand us. Keep up the great work guys.
Gunner
Gunner is young and energetic but after completing a group Basic Obedience course he's now started on the path of success. Gunner still have a ways to go, most notably w/ his self control but he's made such astounding progress with his verbal commands and appropriate responses. I do so enjoy watching him work w/ his human mom and handler. Keep up the good work guys. There are great times ahead in your future and you both deserve them all. Hope to see you soon......I'm proud of you.

Jasper
Jasper, like most young retrievers, are full of energy and easily distracted. Basic Obedience heled Jasper learn the fine are of paying attention and self control. Jasper still have a ways to go and I have full confidence that with a little more work from his human family, he'll do just fine. Even though it is difficult in these modern times when both spouses have to work and schedules are hectic and free time is short, Jasper is proof that if we make the time and put forth the effort, we can learn to interact with our dogs and they can learn to pay attention and control themselves for us. Keep your eyes out for this dog and its family. Your bound to see them around. Keep up the good work. I'm proud of you.

Bear
No, Bear is not a Papillon. He's a min. Australian Shepard and very handsome I must say. Bear and mom are classic examples of both doing a literal 180 degree turn around with regards to the way they interacted with one another. Mom, being dearly in love with her little Bear had issues with wanting to baby and cuddle Bear too much with way too few manners to deserve all the attention. Once Bear was made to understand that certain things were expected of him and that he only got the attention he wanted by providing us w/ what we wanted, things began to change. When mom saw things changing for the better, she became empowered and more self confident to the point the now she is making demands of Bear as well as commanding him as opposed to requesting him to do things. I simply cannot put into words the transformation these two have made. Not only did they successfully complete the group Basic Obedience course but also successfully completed an AKC Canine Good Citizen evalulation the same day they graduated Basic Obedience. The way these two interact with one another now as compared to the very first time I met them is nothing short of miraculous. I really wasn't sure if they come back after the first session but, they did and they continued to move forward and now they are literally at the head of pack from where they started. I am so proud of you two,,,,,,,,keep up the good work.

Roswell
Roswell, as sweet and loveable as she was and still is, used to have a severe habit of bolting. Once she was out of arms reach, getting her to come back was all but impossible. Scott, Roswell's two legged daddy had to get a grip on her as she become a major handful for him and uncontrollable by others. After pulling a family member over and causing injury, Scott brought sweet Roswell out and we got them both into Basic Obedience a.s.a.p. Roswell even manage to break a finger for me with her bolting and lunging As Roswell progressed and her relationship w/ Scott began to change she quickly showed us all how smart she really was. She breezed through Basic Obedience and followed that w/ a successful Canine Good Citizen evaluation. She still had some issues with recall and Scott really wanted to become part of our Pettis County K9 Academy Dog Club so we put Roswell into an e-collar and gave Scott and new way to communicate with her. In just a couple of sessions, Scott got to go for a walk with Roswell off leash and with confidence. Roswell and Scott are now valued members of PCK9 Dog Club and they go almost everywhere together. Both of they're lives have been changed by the new opportunities and fun things they get to do together that was simply impossible before.
